John 3:16
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

A very well-known verse from the Bible, but how often do we pause for a moment and really look at this most wonderful piece of History ever written?
Would we offer one of our children (or a loved one) in order for this sinful world to have everlasting life in Christ? Tough decision, isn’t it?
But do you know what? God didn’t hesitate one second. He allowed His Son to die on the cross for our sins in order for us to have eternal life. What an amazing, unselfish, though shocking, sacrifice. God must really love all of us a lot to allow this, mustn’t He?

Psalm 29:11
”The LORD will give strength to His people; the LORD will bless His people with peace.”

Now, we also have to do our part, wouldn’t you say?
God loves all of us and He wants us to live in peace with Him and one another. This is easier said than done. I’m sure everyone of us experience some-or-other situation daily that challenges the peace that God wants us to have. An impatient driver; a rude salesperson; our intolerance; you name it. Everyday there is something that will interfere with our peace.

Psalm 85
”I will hear what God the LORD will speak, for He will speak peace to His people and to His saints; but let them not turn back to folly.”

Once we have peace, we will also be happy. God wants us to be happy, so how is it possible that some people still don’t know about this wonderful life that God wants us to have?
The biggest problem for this is that there is a break between God and a lot of us.

Romans 3:23
“…for all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God…”

But, one would say, we are only human!
Of course that is true and God does know of our shortcomings and obstacles in life. Therefore He has given us a solution:
JESUS CHRIST, His only begotten Son. Remember John 3:16?

Indeed, God gave us His Son to bridge this gap that exists between Him and us. Isn’t that wonderful?
Our Friend and Saviour, Jesus Christ, is the only One who can bridge this gap between God and ourselves. As stated before, God gave His only Son in order for us to live and to get closer to Him. The only way we can get closer to God, is through Jesus:

John 14:6
“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

We all know that God is a God of love. He never forces us in any direction. We have a free will and it is up to us to choose which path we want to follow. It is up to us if we want to bridge that gap that exists between God and ourselves.
Should we choose to live close to God through Jesus Christ, who died for us on the cross, we have to believe and trust in Jesus. To know that we can trust someone always creates a feeling of serenity and peace in our hearts. How much more when we trust in Jesus! It is surely worth a try, don’t you think?

Acts 10
”The word which God sent to the children of Israel, preaching peace through Jesus Christ - He is Lord of all …”

We all get let down somewhere along the line in our worldly existence. Whether by family, friends or just somebody at work. Just remember: Jesus will never let us down. For absolute peace, we can always turn to Him:

Psalm 121:1&2
“I will lift up my eyes to the hills- From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.”

Yes, indeed. Our help comes from the Lord. We can depend on Him, like on nobody else. We must trust in Him and believe in Him.
There is a saying ‘seeing is believing’. A very true saying, if one comes to think of it. Unfortunately, this saying is used by a lot of unbelievers in this world. Very conveniently, as a matter of fact. But have you ever stood still and thought about this for a moment?
Don’t we experience God’s love, peace and existence every day of our lives? Somewhere, somehow, sometime? God manifests Himself and His works all the time. Sometimes we’re just too busy to see what God does for us. If we just take the time and actually ‘see’ what’s going on around us, we will be able to believe and know that God is there.

Take a minute and think about this:

1 John 5:12
“He who has the Son has life, he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.”

We all have life through Jesus Christ. We see this, therefore we should believe it. Seeing IS believing!
Let your light shine in this world and let the world see the life and peace that God gives us through His Son, Jesus Christ. Share your new life with others. God has love in abundance. He wants everybody to share in His love. He gave His Son to all of us.

James 5:16
“…and pray for one another… The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”

Jesus also says:

John 6:51
“I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever…”

Take note: Jesus says ANYONE. That means that all of us can have eternal life and eternal peace through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Next time, when you are feeling down in the dumps and all seems lost, read this devotional again. Write the next verse down and carry it around in your wallet. When that sinking feeling sets in, remember this:

Psalm 37
”But the meek shall inherit the earth, and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.”

AMEN
